The CC Board is asking the Judge to rule that a 99 year lease back to Crystal Cathedral does NOT exist. This is because the sale has stalled due to the possible existence of such a lease. Certainly it was well-publicized in 1987 that such a lease was signed. Perhaps the sale to the Diocese may have to be delayed for 75 years when the lease to the congregation expires?

Here are some questions that I think need to be answered: #1. I am a member of the Congregation and a beneficiary of that lease. Why wasn't I and other members of the Congregation invited to the hearing to state our position? #2. Why did the very people who forced through the sale against our opposition - turn around today and try to stop it by waving around the idea of the 99 year lease? #3. Why wasn't Dr Schuller subpoenaed to be in Court to give evidence. He's the one that told us all categorically that he has signed a 99 year lease to protect the congregation for perpetutity.

I couldn't believe my eyes the first time I read the OC Register article. So Sheila, Jim, James Dawson, etc., just found out about the 99-year lease we mentioned on this website MONTHS ago? We dug up that article LAST SUMMER! (Perhaps they should have paid more attention to us earlier!) And THEY'RE the ones who filed the motion to stop the sale? And then JIM PENNER says the two boards operated IN SECRET? The "poorly" part is a given. BUT the part about the attorneys was amusing: "Attorneys for the cathedral's creditors pressed both Coleman and her brother-in-law, Jim Penner, also a member of both boards, on why they did not encourage the congregation to bid for the cathedral." They didn't encourage it because then they would have been OUT OF A JOB. And the last bit of amusement from the article: "Coleman said, 'It's unclear what the outcome will be for the congregation.'" Unbelievable. What is wrong with these people? It's pretty clear to me what the outcome will be: The congregation and the HOP viewers are out of luck, in more ways than one.

Read the article - It shows just how inept Coleman and Penner are. Penner says he did his job poorly as a Consistory member. He is such a fake and liar. Coleman says she just learned about the 99 yr lease. She is just dumb. Maybe Penner isn't so dumb after all - he was handed his job when he married into the family. He couldn't make it on the outside working for a living.

Did you see the OC Register article today " Snagg cleared in Crystal Cathedral sale"? Judge Robert Kwan ordered the sale to proceed since the 99 year lease could not be proven. The sale will close in the next few days.

I wonder who has a signed copy of the lease. The CCM is sure to have misplaced their copy.

Yet another fly in the ointment! Fortunately, it's very easy to produce the LA Times newspaper articles. The board might be right in that there might not be an actual piece of paper (that detail might have been conveniently omitted back in 1987, or the signed lease conveniently lost if it did exist), but the newspaper articles clearly indicate that RHS stated there would be a lease. Also see the May 27, 1987 LA Times article:

People should parade the Courtroom with the newspaper articles, and show that the LEASE does EXIST!!!!! I hope that they will have a hearing on this matter, the congregants should be afforded the opportunity to have there voices heard on this matter!!!!
